The forebrain cortex is a functional base for the human cognition and intelligence, thus one of the main topics of the current developmental neuroscience devoted to the human cortex formation and maturation. Development of the cerebral cortex starts with initial neurogenesis that includes neural stem/progenitor cell proliferation, neuroblast migration and glial/neural lineage differentiation. Comparative dynamics of the cortical divisions development is the key studies for the human brain variability and a wide spectrum of neurologic disease pathogeny understanding. In this project we aim to study neurogenesis in the normal human prenatal development to make regional-specific immunophenotype maps of the developing brain.
