Fetus: 29 cm, 490 g. Antenatal fetal hypoxia, congenital pneumonia.

Brain: 90 g, dimensions L-72, H-49, W-20 mm. Cortical layering is not formed; capillary congestion is present. Detailed histological examination revealed a germinal matrix hemorrhage.

A series of sections from the posterior part of the brain, stained with Nissl stain, is presented. Section thickness: 10 microns. Histological preservation of the sample is moderate.

Telencephalon

Surface of the cerebral hemispheres.

In sample N1, both sulci are present on the medial surface of the occipital lobe. However, other samples show that the primary calcarine sulcus (sulcus calcarinus) is temporarily smoothed out at 23-25 weeks of gestation (Godovalova et al., 2024)
